I was born, raised and educated in Darlington; I then studied Engineering at Aberdeen University, following which I served in the British Army for 22 years, initially as a mechanical engineer before re-trading as an intelligence and counter-intelligence specialist. I have attended specialised courses at Anglia Ruskin University, Bradford University,
Edinburgh Napier University and the
University of Exeter.
I have coached and mentored children and adults in a variety of subjects including academic and vocational specialisms across four continents. I am trained in intercultural communications, influence techniques, behaviour analysis, critical thinking and problem solving. I have a Cambridge English Language Teaching Qualification, SEND Diploma,
DBS Clearance and Certificates in Prevent and Safeguarding. I currently provide maths tutoring / private tutoring to pupils in and around Darlington and Stockton-On-Tees. I work on behalf of Local Authorities with Looked After Children and as a maths coach / maths tutor with several Secondary Schools.
I provide personalised step-by-step maths tutoring for all ages from KS1 up to GCSE and Functional Skills. I offer a free initial diagnostic session to identify individual learning requirements and then create a tailored maths coaching plan focused on the needs of the student. I provide one-to-one private tutoring but am willing to discuss other arrangements such as one-to-two. I cover the areas of Northallerton, Catterick, Darlington, Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland, Sedgefield, Stockton-On-Tees and Yarm.
Every student has unique needs for support, that is where a private tutor comes in. If you live in, or close to the areas of Catterick, Darlington or Stockton-On-Tees, tell me more about what you are hoping a maths tutor / maths coach can do for you; I will then start on a plan to help you get what you need.
